Movisie
The online platform for all of today’s dementia care protocol
Movisie is the nation's primary institute for knowledge on societal issues and their management. That means working closely with the state's Ministry of Health to provide scientific protocol on issues such as dementia care. In an ambitious project to centralize all the latest research and recommendations on dementia, we teamed up to both design the online platform as well as animate an explanatory case study.
As a product, the platform we built for Movisie was a multi-disciplinary design. Movisie needed the platform to not only be an archive and collection of dementia care research, but also a visual explanation of the developmental stages of dementia. By supplying them with both web design and explanatory animation, the platform could function as an intricate and centralized totality, that served dementia professionals and patients nationwide.
The value we added
The strategy — Considering the density of the combined research outcomes on dementia care, it was necessary and quite a challenge to create a clear backdrop for so much information. By animating the life story of a fictional elderly gentleman, named van Gastel, we were able to provide image to text and introduce the platform's users to the disrupting reality of dementia in a credible and recognizable way.
The design — The explanatory animations of the fictional character mister van Gastel required a mix of lifelike emotional expression, a photographically inspired digital style, infographics, and many side characters. The story was collaboratively scripted by us and Movisie and divided into ten consecutive stages. The interface of the platform was designed so that users can easily browse through the different stages to meet their specific interests.
