What’s in a name? Goodville’s film repertoire leaves little doubt and much love. With a strong Surinamese heritage and cultural awareness, Goodville sticks up for the little man and looks out for authentic stories. We were asked to design the identity and website with the same flowing energy and passion that’s ingrained in this video studio.

Goodville needed a reboot. A more personal approach that could tell the story visually of a visual storyteller. With a clearly distinguishable visual identity, the studio was now able to collect new stories and assignments much more easily. The rebranding’s emphasis on the latest technical innovations in video gave the studio momentum to explore new commercial options.

The value we added

The strategy — To match the latest developments in the video industry, we put extra focus on technical innovation, which meant coming up with an answer to the wide variety of different devices and screen sizes being used for video. By working with adaptive ratios in motion design, we turned the challenge to Goodville’s advantage. To retain the personal authenticity behind the brand, we then built the visual identity upon a color combination in which the Surinam heritage can still be traced.

The design —To channel the studio’s energy, we let motion design touch every corner of the screen, adaptively and dynamically. The powerful GT America font was chosen for exactly the right slope and energy to keep the stories going. Motivational keywords were combined with imagery for cultural impact and to represent a diversity of narratives. All with a vibrant Caribbean flavored color mixture.
